16 Dec RIANDI AND DIETER’S CLASSICAL WEDDING
We were in Highschool together, had friends in common and saw each other a lot, yet we never really got to speak. Two weeks before the Matric farewell neither one of us had a date and a friend suggested we go together. After the matric farewell we drank a few coffees together but then we went our separate ways. Fast forward to 4 years later – we briefly met for a coffee, went to two weddings together and the rest is history. We had a long distance relationship for over to years, but finally, we are situated in the same town! We are very happy about it.
THE CLASSICAL WEDDING PLANNING
My wedding planning went very smoothly, mostly because we have wonderful families (and parents) who all lent a hand where needed. Riandi has two sisters and a brother who lives in Potchefstroom and when she thought about doing something for the wedding, the family already did it. Dieters brothers and cousin also helped a lot with the venue (it is impossible to single anyone out). We changed our ideas about the wedding a lot because we adapted to what was possible and available – this made wedding planning carefree.
We opted for a pastel floral Classical Wedding. The flowers and designs were colorful with various shades of pink, purple, blue, green and white. The rest of the decor was mostly white so that the flowers, candles and fairy lights can be the focus points. The bridesmaids and flower girls were also in pastel colors. The groom and groomsmen were more manly in their leather ties, belts and shoes.
On the wedding day, we both got ready and went to take photos at beautiful places with our lovely photographer. The ceremony at the church was very special and afterwards, we headed for photos and then the venue. We opted to finish all the formalities as soon as possible so that we can start dancing (this was a very good idea). We had a lot of time to talk to friends and family and just enjoy the evening. Riandi bought the dress at Oriental Plaza in JHB, but it needed work. Celia Kruger from Potchefstroom helped a lot with the fitting, neckline, length, shoulders etc (too much to mention) so that the dress was more like Riandi hoped for. Dieter’s mother ( Marina) and Riandi then worked in some of the details. We were done 2 days before the wedding! Riandi opted not to have a veil or train so that it is a comfortable and no-hassle dress.
FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING:
Our favorite part of the wedding was obviously each other! We had a great time together and enjoyed everything – it was fun! There is no one part that can really be singled out.
