Adventure WeddingTHE LOVE STORY

Morne and Amanda met in a Tourism Management class, the third year, at Northwest University. She did not have a class group to do assignments and asked the group behind her if she could join them. He thought “oh no, an outsider”. They got married and the rest of the group were bridesmaids.
The friendship lasted about 2 years before he told her he liked her. They dated for a little more than a year and a half before he popped the question.

THE PROPOSAL

From the first salary, they started saving to go overseas. September 2016 they went to Germany (for Oktoberfest) and the Czech Republic. Morne couldn’t wait too long and asked Amanda the first day of their trip in the Alps in Germany.

THE ADVENTURE WEDDING DAY

At first, both looked forward to the dancing and socializing with the guests, but the ceremony took her breath away, everything was just perfect.
Morne wrote his vows a while ago, it was in an envelope with the logo on top and on a letterhead. He asked his friend to transform the vows into a song. Morne was really prepared. Although the best part for him was that Amanda wrote her vows only minutes before the ceremony on her hand.

TIPS FOR OTHER BRIDES

We were engaged for 15 months, it gave us time to save money and plan thoroughly. For us, it worked best because we paid the wedding and honeymoon ourselves (our parents also helped as much as they could).
My biggest tip would be: decide what is your main focus and draw up objectives. We wanted a small intimate wedding for a whole weekend and we wanted to share our experiences with the people closest to us. We love traveling and adventure, the whole evening was based on that: appetisers – beer and pretzels (Oktoberfest, Germany); main course – DIY gourmet burgers (America, honeymoon, also our favourite food), desert – Nutella blondies and a DIY coffee station with various coffee and Baileys liquor (Irish coffee, Ireland).

Few more tips:

It helps a lot to have a wedding coordinator.
Give your detailed program to the wedding party so that there are a few people that know whats going on and when it should happen.
Do not stress, keep calm, I am someone who stresses a lot, but I knew my planning was thoroughly done long before.
Do as much as you can beforehand, we made everything ourselves (with a goal to reuse afterward).
Make peace with change, be prepared and make additional plans. If something is not going your way, it’s ok, make peace with it. No one knows how it should have been. It will only give the wedding couple peace of mind at the day.
Ask responsible people to be MC and maid of honor, you should trust them to make fast decisions in your best interest, one less thing to think about.
Lastly, I didn’t do it and now I regret it, take a deep breath before you walk down the aisle, it will make you a little calmer and then you can take in everything.
