Nadia & Tiaan’s Intimate Cape Wedding

9 December 2018, marks one of my favorite days ever, for this was the day I got married to my best friend. I could not have asked for anything more or anything less, for us it was everything we hoped for, thus perfect!

Non-Traditional Wedding:

Furthermore, we did everything a bit different from the norm and traditional weddings, but we did this because of the decision we made staying true to ourselves and what we want.

We did not have a first dance, the throwing of a bouquet or garter, we didn’t have too many speeches, I didn’t wear a veil, nor did we have groomsmen and bridesmaids in the traditional sense and we didn’t take our photos after the ceremony.

Secret Meeting

We had a secret meeting in the vineyards of Picardi Place, Tiaan stood with his back towards me in anticipation of seeing me for the first time as his bride to be.

As I approached, I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned to me in total awe and surprise. We took a moment to embrace each other, kiss, pray and just to savor the moment.

Coupe Shoot

We then went on to do our couple shoot. This was so relaxed and so much fun. We felt so at ease and enjoyed every moment in the beautiful landscape.

Before getting married:

We made a conscious decision to stay true to ourselves in the planning of the wedding, focusing on what matters and what a wedding day really should be about and that is us, not what other people want, not the theatrics and showing off of a wedding, but a celebration of the love we have for one another and celebrating and declaring this with family and friends closest to our hearts.

Picardi Place

We decided to get married at Picardi Place, located in Rawsonville, Western Cape, because of a few reasons:

1. Rawsonville is where Tiaan grew up.

2. It’s such a beautiful part of our country and the venue itself was breath-taking

 3. Picardi Place also fit perfectly into our vision which was a beautiful laid-back and intimate outdoor garden wedding, a romantic setting between the mountains and vineyards of Rawsonville.

Family Photos

We then met up with our parents to do and finalise the family photos as well. Looking back this was such a good idea and I’m so glad we decided to do the photos beforehand because it took off a lot of pressure and stress, enabling us to attend to our guest and have a good time with everyone directly after the ceremony.

Garden Ceremony

The ceremony was held underneath a big beautiful green tree. As I said, I did not wear a veil, I did, however, come down the aisle with a flower crown and a boho-chic type of crop top (two-piece) wedding dress.

The Dress

There was beautiful lace detail on the top and the skirt was light and flowy. Thanks to Hoiden Bridesmaids for making me such a special dress that suited my vision and wedding theme perfectly. You made me feel beautiful.

After the ceremony, we didn’t have to worry about taking photos and we got to celebrate and socialise with our 50 guests. We had great food (thanks to Jako, owner of Picardi Place), popped a few bottles of bubbly and just enjoyed the afternoon celebrating the holy matrimony.

Healthy Cake

I had even baked our wedding cake which was healthily made without sugar. I used almond flour, chickpeas, and protein powder.  Two of my friends and I even decorated it the night before, because that is just who I am and what I wanted.

Ultimately we wanted everything to be special, unique, stress-free and true to who we are.

Our wedding was exactly that!
