21 Sep Nicole & Mario’s Waterfront Engagement Shoot
Sunrise at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town was the perfect setting for Nicole & Mario’s Waterfront Engagement Shoot.
The Love Story:
Nicole: We both studied at the University of Stellenbosch – same class, same degree, everything.
Yet we only met at our graduation ceremony early 2008 when my clumsy self tripped and almost fell while walking up the steps to sneak out of the graduation…
Shoes, phone & handbag went flying when Mario swooped in and saved me from landing on my face (he was also trying to sneak out)! Not too soon thereafter we started working together and many hours were spent at clients and in office – working as part of a team.
In between all of this we became really good friends, spending a lot of time together and eventually this lead to more at the end of 2011 – I fell hard! Two separate stints in New York for work only added to our feelings for each other, however, as with everything, Mario tends to let things simmer – so we only officially started dating in June of 2012. He made me wait…
We have been together ever since – I just cannot picture any part of my life without him!
Our Engagement Story:
Mario: On a lovely winters day during June 2019 in beautiful Franschhoek at the Holden Manz Wine Estate, it felt like the right time. While wandering around on the farm, I went down on one knee and popped the question.
Months of planning, designing the ring and keeping it a secret from her all came together in this picturesque moment – with the vineyards, the Franschhoek river and mountains as our backdrop.
She was so shocked, that I had to ASK her for her answer! “Yes, of course!” – this time she made me wait.
The Location for our Engagement Shoot:
We wanted to have our engagement shoot at a place that plays a big part in the current stage of our life together.
Living in Greenpoint Cape Town for four years now, we just love the City Life. Being close to the V&A Waterfront, the beach, the promenade, Table Mountain, great restaurants.
V&A Waterfront was our chosen location because you can see Table Mountain, the harbor and great architecture like the Silo Hotel – it just has such a CITY feel (like New York – one of our favourites).
It was either that or a golf course – Mario’s other great love of his life!
Our Engagement Shoot Experience:
Dune made us feel comfortable from the start and captured these moments perfectly.
Her bubbly personality made us also feel excited to see what we could do in each setting and, of course, in seeing the final product!
