It was such an honor capturing Zandalee’s Matric Farewell!
The inspiration behind the dress:
Right from the start having a nude colored dress was my dream for my Matric Farewell, the reason for this was because it complimented my skin very well. I wanted a dress with an open back and detailed slit. I believe a person should walk and feel comfortable in your dress.
My mom and I started searching for places that could design my dress like I wanted it to be, but unfortunately, that never worked out because it would’ve been too expensive. I also had the worry that the final product would not be like I imagined it to be.
Eventually, we came across House of Superior Clothing where I fitted a navy blue and nude dress. It was my ideal dress. I made the mistake and lost my heart to the dress before looking at the price. Taking the dress would have made us bankrupt for at least a month. This gave me the idea to hire a dress.
One morning I woke up thinking about a friend of mine I met at a model Bootcamp. She then offered me some of her dresses. The very first dress that I fitted made my Matric Farewell dream turn into reality. It had the open back and detailed slit I wanted and it was ten times cheaper.
The Matric Farewell event:
The moment I put my feet on that runway all my stress disappeared. I felt so comfortable to walk in front of all those people.
The hall and tables were decorated perfectly according to the Rustic Romantic theme. The food was the highlight of the night for me, they served us sweet potatoes and if you knew me you would know that sweet potatoes are my favorite. I wanted some seconds but unfortunately, there were still some people waiting to get their food.
Our car which also played a big role in my night was a metallic blue Ford Mustang, the only one of its kind.
My relationship with Armand:
I had my eye on him since grade 10. Every morning I knew exactly what time he would walk past my locker, this didn’t just give me butterflies but surely gave me the whole zoo in my stomach. I named him Armand with the pretty blue eyes. I had a massive crush on him although we never talked at school.
This year in April my parents and I went to Dros. To my surprise, I saw him sitting there as I walked in and didn’t know what to do. Later that night he came over to me, leaving me shocked because my dream guy is standing right in front of me. For a moment I didn’t know what to say or do. Since that day we became friends.
Today he supports me in everything, he is always there for me, he is my boyfriend but at the same time, my best friend and I feel safe to talk to him about anything and everything. He changed my life completely and helped me find my way to the Lord. Our first date wasn’t at the movies, but rather at church.
